Get a Second Flush
Most people harvest once and toss the block. They assume the substrate is spent. It is not. A second flush is sitting there waiting, sometimes as productive as the first.
- 01
Flip the ShroomBag 180 degrees
After your first harvest, turn the bag upside down. Top becomes bottom.
- 02
Fold the flap over the old cut
Same position, opposite side. The side that just produced now faces down. This cuts off oxygen to the old cut and starts fresh.
- 03
Cut the new side and set up the roof
With the new side facing up, cut the bag, set up the roof, and mist frequently, just like the first flush.
- 04
Mist daily and stay consistent
Keep that cut mark humid the entire time. Daily misting matters just as much now as it did the first time.
The hardest part is waiting. Lion's Mane can take about two weeks before the second flush shows. Blue and Pink Oysters move faster. Black King Oyster is in between. Stay consistent, be patient, it is worth it.
Nothing here requires buying anything. But if you want more material to expand from, a fresh kit or refill is the fastest way to stack another cycle on top of this one.
