Guarantee FAQ
What does the 30-day ShroomBag Guarantee cover?
Three things: (1) the kit arrived damaged or leaking, (2) the block shows contamination — green, black, or pink fuzz that isn't your mushroom — within 30 days of delivery, or (3) you followed the instructions and the kit produced no harvestable flush. Any of those, we replace the kit or refund it.
How do I file a claim?
Email grow@mayamushroom.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and one or two photos of the bag. We don't need a video diary or a moisture log. A clear photo and a sentence about what happened is enough.
Do I have to ship the kit back?
No. Returning a live mycelial culture by mail is messy and unnecessary. Once we've seen a photo we either ship a replacement or refund your card.
Replacement or refund — who chooses?
You do. Tell us in your email which you'd prefer. Replacements ship at the next safe weather window. Refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 3 business days.
What's not covered?
Damage from freezing in an unattended mailbox after a successful delivery, kits left sealed in a hot car or window, third-flush attempts after the kit has already produced two harvests, and kits used outdoors before the indoor flushes are complete. Also: the guarantee is for the kit itself, not the price of mushrooms you didn't get to eat.
Pins are forming inside the unopened bag — is that a problem?
No. That's called pre-pinning and it means the kit is ready to fruit. Cut the bag according to the instructions and continue. Pre-pinning is not a defect and is not a guarantee claim — it's a green light.
I see green mold. Is that always a claim?
Green or black fuzz inside the substrate within the first 30 days is contamination and is covered. Surface mold on a spent block after you've already harvested two flushes is normal end-of-life and is not a defect. When in doubt, send a photo.
Does the guarantee transfer if the kit was a gift?
Yes. If you received a Maya kit as a gift and have the order number (or the gift-giver's name and email), the guarantee is yours.
