Variety Pack Mushroom Grow Kit
Three live ShroomBags in one box. Blue Oyster, Pink Oyster, and Lion's Mane, the full Maya lineup.
The Variety Pack is the whole Maya lineup in one box, one Blue Oyster ShroomBag, one Pink Oyster, one Lion's Mane. Three species, three flavors, three colors, all grown, inoculated, and colonized on locally sourced Appalachian hardwood at our farm in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Start them all at once for a rolling harvest, or stagger a week apart and pull fresh gourmet mushrooms off your counter for a solid month.
Why this strain.
- One box, three species, no decision fatigue, this is the answer to 'which one should I get?'
- Rolling harvest window: Pink fruits in 7–10 days, Blue in 10–14, Lion's Mane around 14. Stagger the starts and you'll be picking mushrooms for weeks.
- Best price per bag we offer, over $15 off buying the three individually.
- The gift version of ShroomBag. If you're buying for someone who's never grown a mushroom, this is the box.
How you grow it.
Five steps. No equipment.
- 01Store all three bags at room temperature until you're ready. Do not refrigerate the Pink Oyster.
- 02Cut a small X in the marked spot on each bag you want to start.
- 03Mist twice a day with clean water, indirect light, no drafts.
- 04Harvest each bag when the mushrooms are mature: Pink Oyster clusters open into petals (7–10 days), Blue Oyster caps flatten out (10–14 days), Lion's Mane spines grow long and stay white (~14 days).
- 05After the second flush, break the spent blocks into shaded hardwood mulch outside. All three species keep producing outdoors for a season or more.
You now have three colonized blocks of gourmet mycelium, don't throw them away. Buried under shaded hardwood mulch, Blue Oyster and Lion's Mane will keep fruiting seasonally for a year or more. Pink Oyster wants warmth, expand it once overnight lows stay above 65°F. One Variety Pack, done right, seeds a whole backyard mushroom patch.
Questions, answered.
What's in the Variety Pack?
One Blue Oyster ShroomBag, one Pink Oyster ShroomBag, and one Lion's Mane ShroomBag. Three live, fully colonized 5 lb grow bags plus grow instructions and an expansion guide.
Do I have to start all three bags at the same time?
No, and we recommend you don't. Stagger the starts a week apart and you'll get a continuous harvest instead of three flushes crashing at once. All three bags store at room temperature for weeks before you start them.
Which bag should I start first?
Pink Oyster is the fastest (7–10 days) and the most visually dramatic, it's the crowd-pleaser to open first. Start Blue Oyster next, then Lion's Mane a few days later.
How much does the Variety Pack save vs buying individually?
Over $15. Buying the three single ShroomBags separately runs about $90, the Variety Pack is $75.
Is this a good gift?
It's our most-gifted kit. Three species, one box, everything needed to grow — no add-ons, no equipment. If they've never grown a mushroom, this is the box to send.
Where are the kits grown?
Inoculated, colonized, and packed on our small farm in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Substrate is locally sourced Appalachian hardwood, the same wood these species fruit on in the wild.
